About Illuminations Center for Dyslexia
At Illuminations, we help families THINK differently about dyslexia, IMAGINE a future of success, and CREATE a personalized plan to get there.
Founded in 2013 in the basement of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Zero, Mississippi, Illuminations Center for Dyslexia is now located on the second floor of Anderson's Education Building in downtown Meridian. Since our beginning, we’ve served over 1,000 students in 18 states providing hope, healing, and the tools to read, write, and thrive.
We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students with dyslexia through evidence-based therapy, personalized tutoring, and parent education. Our mission is to make structured literacy accessible for every child—regardless of diagnosis, zip code, or income level. We offer both in-person and online services and work with each family to create an individualized plan that fits their schedule, budget, and child’s needs.
Dyslexia is a common learning difference that affects the way the brain processes written language. It is not a reflection of intelligence or effort. In fact, many highly successful individuals—including Walt Disney, Whoopi Goldberg, Steven Spielberg, and Leonardo da Vinci—have had dyslexia. With the right support, children with dyslexia can become confident, capable readers and lifelong learners.

The mission of the Illuminations Center for Dyslexia is to maximize the potential of children with language-based learning differences using highly individualized, multi-sensory, research based methodology while empowering them to discover and utilize their strengths to think, imagine, and create in a stimulating and supportive environment that cultivates intellectual, social, and emotional growth.
Too many children with dyslexia and other reading difficulties need specialized instruction that their families simply cannot afford. Effective dyslexia therapy is intensive, individualized, and requires highly trained professionals—but those services can cost thousands of dollars each year and are rarely covered by insurance.
Illuminations Center for Dyslexia exists to close that gap. More than half of the students we serve receive financial assistance, allowing families to access evidence-based dyslexia therapy, literacy intervention, tutoring, and evaluations at a cost based on their ability to pay.
Our greatest need is funding for scholarships that offset the true cost of providing these services. Every gift helps reduce the financial barrier between a struggling reader and the skilled, consistent instruction they need to become a more accurate, confident, and independent reader.
